The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is also recruiting AmeriCorps members through the YWCA’s Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program. One AmeriCorps member will serve as a Volunteer Coordinator and another member will serve as a Food Access Coordinator at the Food Bank for a full year of paid service.

Food Access Coordinator-AmeriCorps
This position will work to increase access to services and meal programs for children and seniors at risk of hunger. This role will help implement three new initiatives: (1) a mobile grocery store that creates healthy food access in isolated communities; (2) a summer meals program for children at risk of hunger over the school break; and (3) a Benefits Enrollment Center that educates residents about programs such as senior farmers market vouchers or the supplemental food assistance program.
